My graphic memoir tells more of my story of growing up as a girl athlete and becoming a writer/professor: The Keeper: Soccer, Me, and the Law That Changed Women’s Lives.
So glad you reposted this! I was on the Title IX committee (they needed student athletes) in college. Living through the 70s and 80s, I feel the same way. Field hockey came to us in 9th grade. That ended up being my jam and taking me all sorts of places. Thankful to have grown up post 1972! I'm a 1974 baby.
Thanks, Emily! And so cool you were on the committee! I never even heard about Title IX when I was a college athlete! That's part of what inspired me to tell my story.
I have two beautiful little girls that may or may not play sports. Either way, I find the idea of being able to connect with them over whatever they choose exciting 🥰
Wow! I love this newsletter! And I love the photo of us. But mostly I love you and am so very proud to be your dad.
Love you, Dad!!! xoxo
Now THAT is a great Father’s Day message!
Thanks, Elizabeth! He seemed to like it. :)
