I now think it is the second-most transformative thing I’ve ever done for my writing and storytelling. It’s almost easy to forget about because the change was so gradual, taking place over a long period of time, going back to when I started a blog in 2010.
Love this, Kelcey. That Didion quote is so perfect. I blogged too, but my really personal writing was more often (and pre-blog) contained in my journal. I noticed after my first marriage ended that I wasn’t journaling as often, and it heats up even now when I’m wrestling with negative, stressful situations - because I’m trying to figure out how I’m feeling and work through the options and ways to manage. When I’m happy, there’s nothing to process.
