Oh gosh, I love this combo of collage and ink. I’m ideating on my final project in a graphic memoir class and have wondered how I could make 10 pages happen using some collage without making myself crazy… this helps. :)
Thanks for noticing that detail, Alice! Those lines felt like they drew themselves. That said, I tried to add leaves around the final line ("the body") and they turned into a muddy mess that I had to paint over. :)
Lovely, lovely work, Kelcey. Thanks for showing the process. ❤️
And I love that you mentioned Carla Sonheim’s name! I hope your readers go discover all of the great classes that she’s put together. I’ve been blessed by her classes for more than a decade.
Thanks, Aimee! I’m always impressed by Carla’s classes! Side story: I was on Bainbridge Island a few years ago at a coffee shop, and I saw her sitting with someone at an outside table. I wanted to say hello was too nervous! 😂
Love love this post, Kelcey, well all your posts...the beauty and simplicity and always your subtle humor. You inspire me to get going again. I need to draw my distractions. Then I might get somewhere!
I am amazed at how much effort these things can take. By the way, that looks just like my typewriter from my college years, '77-'81. I was very fond of it and hated it a little too.
Thank you for everything you’ve shared and I want to check out those classes you linked to. I think making art is the only way to survive these days. I love reading your posts.
This was exactly what I needed today, Kelcey! And I'm so glad you didn't stop :)
I love this so much. I hope I can do that workshop with you this summer (I applied for funding). I find that art-making is my solace at this point.
OMG that would be amazing if you could go in the summer!!!

I hear you, Laurie! I love mixed media/collage comics. Do it!
Great job. I had to laugh with the "overeworked" and fixed it. I do that every time.
Me: Oh, this looks great. Just right...maybe just a little more "good stuff"... (adds more)... crap... :(
Haha, totally! My daughter trolls me over this tendency of mine. 😂
Love this Kelcey. The process, the message, the sharing. Artwise, I particularly love the ends of your beautiful woman's hair. Like leaves...

I love this and now you have me inspired to paint and revisit those classes from Carla! 💖
Thanks, Jennifer! They are great classes!
Love this!! So inspiring and pretty and very calming to look at. ❤️
Thank you so much!
"Feel your feels. Make your art". YES!
Hell yeah!
Gorgeous. Thank you.

I think I would have felt the same way. Depends on if I was wearing my big girl pants that day or not. You should teach a class for her!
Love it…and your process!! Inspiring!
Thanks, Jeannine!

Barb! Hello! I like the idea of drawing your distractions. I like everything you draw. So nice to hear from you!

I love my typewriter! It's such a pleasure to have words appear directly on the page. No printer needed!
I love your collages so much. Thank you for making and for sharing with us! Inspiring
Thanks so much, Bethany!

Thank you so much for the beautiful poem. the process notes are an added bonus!
Thanks, Anne!
