I did it: After two years of daily artmaking, I wrote and illustrated and got an agent and publisher—and a blurb from freaking Alison Bechdel—for my graphic memoir, The Keeper. It’s about growing up as a girl athlete in the early years of Title IX and how that unexpectedly helped me become a writer.
