Dear Reader,
This one’s for Scott.
Scott died 24 years ago today. I created this comic a year ago, and it was published in print in Swing literary journal last spring.
Today I’m glad to be headed back to Cincinnati—where I grew up, where I knew Scott—for a couple of special book events. Today I’ll be kicking off Women’s History Month with a talk at the Harriet Beecher Stowe House.
On Tuesday I’ll be at my alma mater, Xavier University—where I was the goalkeeper for the women’s soccer team a LONG time ago, and where I’ll meet the current keeper who just broke my all-career shutout record! 😭
Speaking of goalkeeping and Women’s History Month, this month I’ll be sharing more about my graphic memoir The Keeper, which is about growing up in the early years of Title IX and uncovering the women’s history that shaped my entire life.
Thanks for reading The Habit of Art by Kelcey Ervick, a Substack Featured Publication (twice!). I love writing and drawing these posts and am grateful to everyone who follows along.
